It's time to write our interfaces. I'm not sure any aspect of writing portfolio management software is "fun" in the traditional sense. But if I had to make a list of the software pieces I was looking forward to, custodial interfaces would end up close to the bottom.

But as the walrus said, the time has come. We need to import custodial data and there's still no generic data transfer spec for the industry. So for the third time in my life, I have to write the exact same interfaces to (almost) the exact same companies. Again.

The reason for the post is that we've actually been working on interfaces for a couple weeks now and we're at the point where we need test data. This is not an inclusive list, but the first ones we are working on are:

  • Schwab
  • DST (Vision, FANmail)
  • TD Ameritrade
  • Fidelity
  • Pershing

If you are planning on being a FinFolio beta tester and you use one of these custodians, please get in touch. I'd like to get copies of your interface files so we can test the new imports.

There eventually will be many more interfaces but these five are our first wave. Thanks!
