We finished Beta 2 on Friday. I'm happy with the software--this is the last big beta release and we are almost feature complete, with the notable exception of performance composites. We created the structure for composites when we implemented stored performance (see below), so it should be fairly simple to implement.

We're now working toward a release candidate which involves bug fixing, polishing off the existing functionality, finishing the user manual, and making minor tweaks to the UI. We're continuing to chisel away at speed and expand our report and graph library. I'll update after the holiday when I have a better idea of a release date.

Notable additions for Beta 2 include:

Trade blotters - Create multiple trade blotters and use them to manage your imports and any rebalancing/billing trades that you create inside the system. Your imported transactions reconcile back to the originals so you can find bad trades. Errors and warnings now have two states (pending and posted) so you can troubleshoot problems in the trade blotter before trades are posted.

Customizable reports - We now have several reports where you select the calculation for each report column. You can add custom groups to reports, and even change the row-level data that prints.

Fixed income - You can enter the fundamentals of various fixed income securities and calculate duration, amortization, accretion, yields and other information. You can use these calculations on any customizable report column, and there are client reports that display fixed income summaries.

User Security - Set up security profiles for each one of your users. Set user access rights on specific data, including households, portfolios, clients, securities, accounts, models, fee schedues and trade blotters. You can also enable/disable functionality (like billing or trading) by user.

Stored Performance - You now have the option of precalculating your performance and storing it in performance tables. This lets you "lock down" your performance in advance of running reports. If you don't pre-calculate the performance then it will calculate on the fly at report time.

Indexes - You can build blended indexes containing percentage weightings of other indexes. Indexes can be attached to any folio or you can specify global indexes to use at report time. We added several performance vs. index graphs and reports.

New Conversions - We have "rough drafts" of the Advent and Portfolio Center conversion modules. You can import accounts, portfolios, securities and prices.

Improved Interfaces - We've been cleaning up the existing interface mappings based on feedback from the beta testers. These include Schwab, Fidelity, Pershing, TD Ameritrade and DST. We've been doing regular updates and the number of reported issues has declined dramatically in recent months, leading us to believe we've worked out most of the mapping issues.

Most of these features deserves their own blog post, and I'll try to do that over the next few weeks.
